Course Overview (Benefits)
This course is for First Aiders to re-qualify prior to their certificate expiring. The aim of this course:
Complying with Legislation underlined by HSE and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
Improved safety culture and staff morale

- Reduced risk of claims and prosecutions
- The First Aid – Refresher Course is relevant for all workplaces within all industries.
Course Content / Topics Covered
This course ensures that you comply with legislation and covers topics that teach skills that can be transferred to a real life situation, including:
Priorities of first aid
Dealing with an unconscious casualty
Shock
CPR (Use of AED)
Wounds & bleeding
Burns & scalds
Fractures
Heat conditions
Eye Injuries
Poisoning
Seizures
Major illness
Minor Injuries
Record keeping
First aid kits
Delegation in emergencies
Communication skills
Course review and evaluation
This course includes the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.
Course Duration
2 Days
Target Group
Certified First Aiders approaching the end of the 3 year certificate.
Assessment and Certification
You will be observed by the trainer alongside written assessments. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a new First Aid certificate; this will be valid for 3 years.

This is a non-accredited course, however; if you require an accredited course we are able to offer this service.
Method of Delivery
This course is made up of classroom based learning and a practical demonstration.
Course Requirements
Suitable clothing for floor work should be worn. Attendees have 28 days from expiry date to attend the refresher course, those who are over the 28 days must be re-booked onto the next 3 day Initial course – click here for the first aid at work course.
